Our first book club was about a spiritual way of life, a way of finding meaning in our current world. This time, I want to focus on medical well-being, which is often overlooked. So, as unusual as it is, due to popular demand, I am putting a book on menopause by an OBGYN as our next book club. See the details below.
Gentlemen, don't worry—you are not forgotten. I have included three more book recommendations below. These books have nutritional and medical guidance that I believe can make everybody healthier.
And... if nutrition and getting fit is something that you have been thinking about but had a hard time starting on your own, consider my 200-HR Mindfulness and Yoga Journey. (open to all genders) I know, I know, you are thinking, what does a 200-hour teacher training have to do with nutrition? Honestly, this is a good question for most 200-hour courses out there...most 200-hour training is nothing more than memorization of poses. Thankfully, that is not what I do. Yoga is a Way of Life; I teach the "old-fashioned way," honoring that yoga is more than just asana. For health, we first need mindfulness and self-knowledge; we first need to find a healthy inner dialogue; after that, nutritional and lifestyle changes can occur. I teach a rich philosophy, psychology, asana, anatomy, yoga, and nutrition curriculum. Spira's 200 hour is nine months long, so you will have time to internalize changes in a friendly community that will support your journey. Interested? Scroll to the bottom and follow the links.
Wishing you health and vitality, Dora (owner of Spira Yoga, and teacher)

A platform where women can sit and discuss menopause, an often overlooked and taboo topic in our society, but one that can drastically alter a woman's ability to work and concentrate. The last on our mind is regaining sexual function, which seems to lead the headlines, but really, when joint pain, general inflammation, rising cholesterol, and fatigue are on the table, there is no need to lead with sex on this one—highlighting nothing but the possibility of diminished sex drive a just another way of totally neglecting women's health and experiences. (OK, that was a loud opinion of Dora, your fearless leader, about how our medical industry can leave women behind.)
Book Recommendation for Your Health and All Genders
With all this menopause talk, I wish to leave no gentlemen yogis behind. :-) This book is excellent guidance for ALL HUMAN BEINGS.
No, it is not an anti-vaccine book. (I know how the mind works, but I think you all know me better than that; I used to work in an immunology laboratory)
This book is a fantastic aid on how to advocate for your health in our current medical system. It explains with empathy the hellish work environment and paperwork fatigue that are current medical practitioners endure and the reasons why some of them fall behind in current research.
It also has a beautiful and touching closing chapter for the current medical student. But in between these pages, you will find notes on the latest research, such as:
Cholesterol myths
The fall of the food pyramid
prostate health and testosterone
The salt controversy
Thyroid and TSH test
Diverticulitis and nuts and seeds
Kidney stones and calcium
and so much more...
He also provides helpful future reading and research on each topic. This is a great starting point if you need a simple overview of most hot topics.

Food as Lifestyle and Medicine
These two books need no introduction. They are by far the best guidance for health, especially if you are dealing with inflammation, bloating, fatigue, allergies or sensitivities, or ADHD.
