500 hour yoga TEACHER training
Want to become a teacher or deepen your understanding of yoga? We believe yoga is a path of lifelong learning.
Teacher training is a term that we use because we are a Yoga Alliance School and that is the language that they determined for these classes. But that does not mean that these trainings are restricted to teachers only. We welcome everyone who is curious, who enjoys learning, who wishes to understand yoga on a deeper level.
This training will be 300 hours in addition to your 200 hours that you have already completed. You will be 500-hour certified if you have completed successfully both 200 and 300-hour training.
This training is registered with Yoga Alliance.
Spira Power Yoga is also certified by Washington State as a licensed vocational school.
why learn with us

If you already have a 500 HR Yoga Alliance Diploma, you can take our individual modules (weekend topics) for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits. We have registered all of our topics with Yoga Alliance to be Cont. Ed. courses. Click here to see our modules.

Building on Spira 200 hr Yoga and Mindfulness Training
Spira’s 200-hour teacher training is very detailed, we covered not only practicum but also read and analyze 8 books on philosophy, history, mindfulness, and anatomy. These ADDITIONAL 300 hours assume that you have been through a 200-hour training already. All topics that are listed in this module have been covered in the 200-hour level. These modules are intended to deepen your knowledge.
If you don’t have a 200-hour training or if your 200-hour training was not very detailed (8 weeks or shorter in duration), we recommend that you take Spira’s 200-hour teacher training before enrolling in our 300-hour curriculum. Again, this is simply our recommendation. Our 200-hour training is truly different, it is an amazing life-enriching journey, you will find it worthwhile even if you already have a 200-hour diploma. But we understand if that is not an option.
Our 300-hour training will be more challenging for those with no prior training, but by no means impossible or not enjoyable. We will try to review as much as possible to make classes comprehensive and whole for every student.
What you will learn
You will learn the art of mindful self-awareness, and meditation, the history of yoga and be well rounded in classical yogic texts. You will dive into anatomy, nutrition, self-care including making time for your own practice. We will discuss students’ different learning styles, different teaching styles, hands-on assisting, the business of yoga and more. You will study sequencing and safe and healthy choreography of asanas. You will learn the art of meditation, it’s historical roots and how it developed into a modern mindfulness practice. Your trainers will artfully overlay ancient yoga teachings and embed them into modern science.
We want to make sure that you will feel comfortable teaching at any level; from total beginners starting yoga later in life to advanced yogis and flexible gymnasts in their twenties.
At Spira, we teach from a deep understanding of anatomy. We keep our classes very much rooted in Western traditions utilizing mindfulness techniques. You will learn how to teach yoga without preaching a particular spirituality.
Completing Teacher Training at Spira will allow you to inspire people from gyms to yoga festivals. The training is also open to folks who simply wish to deepen their knowledge in the field of yoga and gain a better understanding of their own practice.
