At Spira we believe that charity and service are the most important part of yoga practice! We may chant all we want, but we will not find peace in the heart if our actions don’t follow! At Spira we may break from “Yoga tradition” by playing western music, but we will be traveling closer to the heart of yoga by our service.
Spira Power Yoga would like to honor the folks who support, protect and serve our community.

Yoga for Hope:
Mark your calendars! Saturday, July 14, 2012 the much anticipated annual yoga event, Yoga for Hope, returns to Seattle Center. Local yoga instructors will once again unite to lead an outdoor yoga class for beginners and experts alike to promote the benefits of yoga practice for health and well-being and raise crucial funds to support City of Hope’s pioneering research and treatment programs to fight cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
City of Hope’s compassionate patient-centered philosophy believes in healing the whole body. Our physicians understand and utilize the positive effects of complementary and integrative therapies such as yoga a meditation and art therapy. At City of Hope, restorative yoga classes are offered to City of Hope patients and their caregivers to provide a way to help manage the emotional and physical process of treatment and recovery. This program has had a profound impact on symptom management and quality of life for many City of Hope patients. As quoted by one City of Hope patient, “After chemotherapy, I had a lot of stiffness. Doing this yoga class has given me more mobility. I feel more relaxed and better able to handle stress.”
City of Hope is a leading research, treatment center dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer and other life threatening illnesses guided by a compassionate patient-centered philosophy. Designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the highest honor bestowed by the National Cancer Institute, and a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, City of Hope’s research and treatment protocols advance care throughout the nation.
